Live-action Legend of Zelda movie confirms IMAX release plans

Nintendo's push into Hollywood is getting the biggest screen treatment possible. Sony Pictures, which is co-financing and distributing the live-action Legend of Zelda movie, announced today that the film will be released in IMAX theaters worldwide.
Director Wes Ball has previously stated his intention to create a sweeping, visually stunning fantasy epic, comparing the tone to a live-action Miyazaki film. The confirmation of an IMAX release aligns with that vision, promising massive landscape shots of Hyrule and larger-than-life encounters with iconic monsters. Sony confirmed the film is being shot with IMAX-certified digital cameras to utilize the expanded aspect ratio.
While the cast and plot details remain tightly guarded secrets, this technical announcement reinforces that Nintendo and Sony are treating the Zelda adaptation as a major tentpole blockbuster, aiming for the same cinematic scale that made the Super Mario Bros. Movie a massive success.
