Subnautica 2 sells two million copies in twelve hours

Subnautica 2 is already one of the biggest Early Access launches of 2026. Unknown Worlds has announced that the underwater survival sequel sold more than two million copies within twelve hours of release, after passing one million in its first hour. VGC also reports that the game saw more than 600,000 concurrent players in its opening hours. That is a huge result for a title still officially in Early Access, especially after a complicated development cycle and years of pressure from fans. The sequel keeps the core survival loop of scanning, crafting, base-building, vehicle progression and terrifying ocean exploration, but adds online co-op for up to four players. That change appears to have widened the appeal without killing the original fantasy. For players, the launch numbers mean something practical too: Subnautica 2 is not entering Early Access quietly. It already has a massive community discovering biomes, sharing base designs, finding bugs and pushing the systems. The real test is now long-term support. Early Access survival hits can explode early, but they need steady updates, new content and trust to survive the first wave.
