007 First Light gameplay trailer shows espionage in Vietnam

007 First Light has shown more gameplay, and this time Bond is doing international espionage in Vietnam rather than simply walking into rooms with suspiciously expensive confidence. The new footage focuses on a luxury resort mission where Bond needs to plant Q-Traks on multiple persons of interest.

That is a very IO Interactive setup: limited space, multiple targets, social stealth, gadgets, distractions and the promise that every clean solution probably has three ridiculous alternatives hiding nearby. The gameplay shows Bond using a Phone Dart to create an opening, manipulating the environment and approaching objectives with a little more problem-solving than pure shootout energy.

That matters because IO Interactive’s Hitman DNA is the whole reason this project is exciting. A Bond game should not just be cover shooting with tuxedo seasoning. It should let players improvise, bluff, sneak, sabotage and occasionally behave like a dangerously handsome menace with government funding. Launch is tomorrow, so this is the final sales pitch.
