Apidya’ Special launches August 25 with handmade pixel revival

Apidya’ Special now has an August 25 release date, and retro shooter fans should pay attention. ININ Games is reviving the 1992 Amiga side-scrolling shoot ’em up with handcrafted 24-bit pixel art, widescreen support, optional 4:3 presentation, CRT-style filters, new parallax layers, expanded worlds and hidden stages.

Most importantly, this does not sound like a lazy upscale. The team is rebuilding the visuals by hand while keeping the spirit of the original intact.

Apidya is a strange little classic: an insect-themed shooter from the Amiga era that never had the global recognition of bigger arcade names, but still carries serious cult respect. This is exactly the kind of preservation-plus-restoration release retro fans love.
