Battlefield 6 introduces a familiar Call of Duty: Ghosts mechanic to cap off Season 3

EA and DICE have announced that Battlefield 6 will borrow a page from classic Call of Duty history to wrap up its current Season 3 content. The upcoming High-Value Target update on June 30 will introduce a new mechanic called Contracts, which functions very similarly to the old Field Orders system popularized in 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts. Players will be prompted to complete dynamic, mini-objectives mid-match to earn powerful in-game rewards and swing the tide of battle.

The Contracts system adds an extra layer of tactical chaos to the multiplayer sandbox. While navigating intense firefights, players can pick up special data pads that assign tasks like securing a specific point, eliminating a designated high-value target, or surviving a brief bounty window. Completing these challenges rewards players with specialized supply drops and explosive capabilities, forcing them to balance immediate survival with objective-chasing gameplay.

This feature addition comes alongside the new Wet Work in-game event and critical balance adjustments for multiplayer maps and the RedSec faction. For Battlefield veterans, this update represents a notable content infusion designed to keep the player base engaged as Season 3 draws to a close. DICE's willingness to experiment with mechanics from rival franchises indicates a focus on player-retention loops and sandbox diversity.
