Bubsy 4D launches today across console and PC is part of Gameforce Asia's May 22 news briefing, tracking the releases, platform moves and live-service updates most likely to affect what players watch next.
Bubsy 4D launches today, which is not a sentence the gaming industry expected to say with a straight face in 2026. Atari and Fabraz are bringing the bobcat back with a new 3D platformer across modern consoles and PC, and the big question is whether Bubsy can finally become more than a punchline. The series has lived for decades as a warning label for mascot-platformer hubris, but that also gives this release a strange advantage: expectations are low, curiosity is high and a genuinely decent Bubsy game would instantly become a story. Fabraz has platforming credibility, so this is not simply nostalgia with a tail attached.
The challenge is tone. Bubsy needs to be silly without becoming exhausting, modern without pretending to be Mario, and self-aware without drowning in jokes about its own history. Weirdly, that makes Bubsy 4D one of today's most interesting launches.
