Console Archives Geki-Oh ShienRyu launches today on Nintendo Switch 2, giving shmup fans another old-school projectile storm to survive. The 1999 Warashi shoot ’em up arrives through HAMSTER’s Console Archives label with modern conveniences such as save/load support, screen settings and customizable controls.

That matters because shoot ’em ups live on precision, and modern reissues need to give players clean input and flexible display options without sanding away the challenge. Geki-Oh ShienRyu is not the most mainstream retro release of the week, but that is the point.

Preservation is strongest when it includes the specialist games too: the ones arcade and console fans remember in fragments, screenshots and forum posts. Switch 2 is quickly becoming a useful home for these rediscoveries, especially for players who like their nostalgia served with bullets, bosses and zero patience for sloppy dodging.
