Activision files Crash Bandicoot trademark for film and TV

Crash Bandicoot may be preparing to spin out of games again, at least on paper. Activision has filed a new trademark for Crash Bandicoot that specifically covers motion picture films and television series, which immediately kicks open the door to adaptation speculation. This does not guarantee a show or movie is in active production, because trademarks often arrive before anything concrete.
Still, it is a very deliberate category to secure. Crash is one of Activision’s most recognizable family-friendly characters, and the recent success of game-to-film and game-to-TV adaptations makes the timing easy to understand. If Sonic can run through cinemas and Mario can print money with a power-up mushroom, Crash at least deserves a meeting.
The key challenge would be tone. Crash works because he is chaos with eyebrows. A good adaptation needs that energy, not just another generic mascot adventure.
