Dark Scrolls launches today on Switch and PC

Dark Scrolls launches today, bringing Devolver Digital and doinksoft’s fantasy side-scrolling action platformer to Switch and PC. The pitch sounds like someone threw action-platforming, shoot ’em up pressure and roguelite progression into a cauldron, then asked if local and online co-op could fit in too.

Players choose from quirky heroes, fight through procedurally generated runs made from hand-crafted rooms, unlock new characters and stack perks until the screen becomes a fireworks accident with swords. That sounds like exactly the kind of compact chaos Devolver likes to publish: funny, sharp, slightly dangerous and probably harder than the art style first suggests.

The big question is whether Dark Scrolls can keep each run feeling fresh. Roguelite action games need momentum, good upgrade choices and enemies that feel fair even when they are ruining your afternoon. Today, players get to test the scrolls themselves.
