Dead by Daylight adds Jason Voorhees on June 16

Dead by Daylight is finally getting Jason Voorhees, and yes, it still feels strange that it took this long. Behaviour Interactive’s horror crossover machine has already swallowed half the genre, but Jason is one of the big missing icons: the mask, the machete, the silent walk and the unstoppable campfire nightmare.

The new DLC killer arrives on June 16, which makes this more than a casual guest spot. It is a proper anniversary-era statement for a game that has somehow become the horror museum of multiplayer gaming. The real test is how Jason plays.

He cannot just be another large killer with a sharp object. The fantasy needs to be patience, inevitability and that horrible feeling that running only delays the problem. If Behaviour gets the mechanics right, Jason could become one of the game’s most important licensed additions in years.
