Dead by Daylight finally adds Jason Voorhees as a killer

Dead by Daylight is finally getting Jason Voorhees, and honestly, it is wild that it took this long. Behaviour Interactive has revealed that the hockey-masked Friday the 13th icon is joining the game as its next killer, giving Dead by Daylight one of the most obvious horror crossovers still missing from its roster.

The game already has a murderers’ row of horror guests, including Alien’s Xenomorph, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, Chucky, Resident Evil characters and more. Jason is different because he is one of the simplest and most recognizable horror images ever created: mask, machete, silence, unstoppable walk, doomed teenagers.

His arrival also lands as Dead by Daylight approaches its tenth anniversary, which makes the reveal feel like a proper milestone rather than just another licensed add-on. The big question is how Behaviour makes Jason mechanically interesting. He cannot just be big man with knife number 17. Done right, he should feel inevitable, heavy and terrifyingly patient.
