Destiny 3 petition passes Marathon’s peak player-count estimate

Destiny fans are not going quietly into the loot-filled night. A petition asking Sony to greenlight Destiny 3 has reportedly passed 170,000 signatures, putting it above estimates for Marathon’s opening-week peak player count.

That is not the same thing as a business case, but it is a very loud signal from a frustrated community. Destiny 2 is heading toward its final major update on June 9, while Bungie’s attention appears to be shifting heavily toward Marathon.

The problem is obvious: Destiny players do not want to feel like the franchise that carried Bungie for years is being quietly folded into a museum while the studio chases a new extraction-shooter future. The petition probably will not magically force Destiny 3 into production, because budgets, staffing and Sony’s priorities matter more than Change.org thunder. Still, it shows the audience is alive, angry and willing to make noise. In live-service terms, that is not nothing.
