Fable is delayed to February 2027 but Xbox says it is in great shape

Fable is officially moving to February 2027, and Xbox is trying to frame the delay as smart positioning rather than development panic. Matt Booty says Playground Games feels good about the game and wants it to have a release window of its own.

Translation: nobody wants to launch a fantasy RPG into the blast radius of Grand Theft Auto VI if they can avoid it. That is sensible. Fable needs room to breathe because this is not just another Xbox first-party release. It is the return of one of Microsoft’s most personality-driven RPG brands, and fans will judge it on tone as much as systems.

The old Fable games had charm, weirdness, moral nonsense and British fantasy absurdity. The new one needs polish, but it also needs that spark. Xbox says more will be shown at the Xbox Games Showcase, so February may be the right call if the game actually lands.
