Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth opens second in Japan on Switch 2

Famitsu’s latest Japanese chart gives Switch 2 another useful signal. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream stayed at number one with 50,151 weekly physical sales, but Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth debuted at number two on Switch 2 with 30,657 physical units.

eFootball Kick-Off also arrived strongly in third with 20,047 units, while Pokémon Pokopia, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book and Mario Kart World continued to sell. Hardware-wise, Switch 2 led the week again with 23,059 units, comfortably ahead of PlayStation and Xbox models.

Physical sales do not tell the whole market story anymore, but they still matter in Japan. Rebirth’s Switch 2 start helps validate Square Enix’s broader multiplatform strategy and shows that Nintendo’s new hardware can move serious third-party RPGs.
