Tomodachi Life stays on top as Yoshi debuts in Japanese retail charts

Famitsu’s latest Japanese retail chart has Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream still sitting at number one, moving another 64,899 physical copies for Switch. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book was the highest new release, debuting at 39,661 physical copies on Switch 2.

Pokémon Pokopia stayed strong in third, while Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn Edition also entered the top five for Switch 2. Hardware sales were also notable: Switch 2 moved 247,880 units during the week, ahead of a price increase, while the Switch family sold 9,539 units, PS5 family sold 8,673 and Xbox Series sold 877.

This is the kind of chart that reminds everyone Japan’s market has its own rhythm. Social life sims, cute platformers and Pokémon continue to dominate physical shelves while big third-party ports fight for space.
