Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director warns streaming may hurt RPGs

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi has raised an interesting concern: streaming may be creating “a bit of a crisis” for RPGs. His point is not that streaming is bad, but that story-heavy games risk losing players who decide watching a full playthrough is enough.
That is especially relevant for Final Fantasy, where narrative, spectacle and character moments are a major part of the appeal. RPG developers now have to make games people want to experience personally, not just watch passively.
That could mean more interactivity, better exploration, stronger systems and moments that feel different when you control them. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation already has huge expectations, but this comment hints at the bigger design pressure facing modern RPGs.
