FIFA unveils Netflix World Cup game ahead of the tournament

By GFA Staff · June 5, 2026

FIFA has unveiled FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition, a Netflix Games release timed for June 11 alongside the start of the 2026 World Cup. That is another sign that FIFA’s post-EA gaming strategy is not about one giant replacement for EA Sports FC.

It is about putting the FIFA name across multiple formats, platforms and audience habits. The Netflix title will reportedly include all 48 national teams, more than 1,200 players and support for smartphone controllers connected by QR code.

That is a smart accessibility play. Not every football fan wants a full annual sports sim with advanced tactics and Ultimate Team pressure. Some just want a simple tournament game they can play on a TV with friends. Whether it has enough depth is another question, but strategically this fits FIFA’s broader digital football push.
