Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster heads to Switch 2 on July 23

Square Enix decided not to wait for the Nintendo Direct spotlight and announced Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster for Nintendo Switch 2. The package launches July 23, 2026, bringing Tidus, Yuna, Sin, blitzball trauma and dressphere chaos to Nintendo’s newer hardware.

The Switch 2 version appears to be close to the existing Switch release, but with higher resolution and useful quality-of-life features like high-speed mode and no random encounters. That is exactly the kind of comfort option that makes older RPGs more approachable in 2026.

The odd bit is that there is apparently no upgrade path from the original Switch version, which will annoy people who already bought it. In Japan, a physical release is planned, but as a game-key card rather than a full cartridge.
