Forever Ago gets October 8 release date on Switch 2

Forever Ago now has a Nintendo Switch 2 release date: October 8, 2026. Annapurna Interactive and Third Shift’s road-trip adventure looks like one of those games that will either quietly devastate people or become the screenshots-and-feelings indie of the season.

The premise follows an elderly man on a journey through memory, photography and regret, which gives it a much softer emotional register than the giant action reveals dominating the week. Switch 2 is a good platform for this kind of reflective adventure because handheld play makes intimate stories feel even more personal.

The challenge is making the road trip interactive without turning it into a slow walking simulator with pretty skies. If Forever Ago uses photography, exploration and memory well, October could have a very different kind of emotional punch waiting between the louder releases.
