Fortnite Remains PlayStation's Most Downloaded Free-to-Play Game
Fortnite held the number-one position in Sony's August free-to-play download chart in both the United States and Canada and Europe. Roblox ranked second in both regions, while Once Human placed third. The consistency across the two territories underlines the remarkable staying power of Epic Games' battle royale and broader entertainment platform. Sony's ranking tracks PlayStation Store downloads rather than active users or revenue, so it does not establish which free-to-play game generated the most spending during August.
Epic Games' continuous cadence of high-profile crossovers, seasonal gameplay evolutions, and ecosystem modes—including LEGO Fortnite, Fortnite Festival, and Rocket Racing—has transformed the battle royale into a persistent social universe. Even years after its original debut, Fortnite consistently attracts waves of new and returning players on modern PlayStation hardware.
Finishing closely behind in second place, Roblox demonstrated identical cross-continental resilience among younger players and creator communities. The free-to-play charts reflect an ongoing shift toward persistent living platforms. Explore live service analyses on /news and keep up with seasonal events on /release-radar.
