G-MODE Archives+ Namco Chronicle launches in Japan

G-MODE Archives+ Namco Chronicle launches today in Japan for Switch and PC, continuing the very specific but important work of rescuing feature-phone games from digital extinction. Namco Chronicle originally launched for Japanese mobile phones in 2009, which already makes it part of a preservation category most players never think about.
Console classics get remasters, anniversaries and fancy art books. Feature-phone games often just vanish into carrier history like they were never real. That is why the G-MODE Archives line is useful.
It preserves a layer of gaming that existed between arcade memory, console dominance and modern smartphone ecosystems. Namco Chronicle itself is a strategy RPG, and even if this remains a niche Japanese release, it matters as part of a wider preservation effort. Not every old game needs to be famous to deserve saving.
