Gears of War: E-Day launches October 6 and stays Xbox console exclusive

Gears of War: E-Day finally has the kind of clarity fans needed. The prequel launches October 6, 2026, and Xbox confirmed it is an Xbox console exclusive rather than a timed exclusive.

That is a big statement in Microsoft’s current multiplatform era. The showcase and dedicated Gears Direct showed Marcus and Dom at the beginning of the Locust nightmare, leaning into the horror of Emergence Day rather than simply selling another cover-shooter victory lap. The Coalition also highlighted modernized combat, new movement options, destructible cover details, PvE co-op and the return of PvP multiplayer.
