Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands finished August as the most downloaded PS4 game through the PlayStation Store in the United States and Canada. Red Dead Redemption 2 followed in second place and Gang Beasts placed third. The result is another reminder that the PS4's mature catalogue continues to generate significant digital activity even as current-generation development increasingly centers on PS5. Sony's ranking covers PlayStation Store downloads and excludes bundled upgrades.
Ubisoft's open-world tactical shooter, originally released in 2017, continues to captivate players with its massive Bolivian sandbox, four-player cooperative squad infiltration, and flexible stealth-action sandbox mechanics. Periodic digital discounts on the PlayStation Store have consistently introduced new waves of tactical enthusiasts to the Ghosts' campaign against the Santa Blanca cartel.
The continued prominence of mature PS4 catalogue titles highlights the massive, highly active global hardware install base of the previous console generation. Even as major publishers transition primary resources toward PS5, legacy titles with robust cooperative play provide ongoing commercial value.
