God of War Laufey reportedly will not be years away

God of War Laufey may not be as far away as the lack of a release window made it seem. After the State of Play reveal, insider chatter suggests players should not expect a multi-year wait, with one comment specifically saying the game is definitely not a 2028 release.

That is important because the reveal showed enough gameplay to make the project look much further along than a normal early teaser. Faye’s adventure is a risky but fascinating move for Santa Monica Studio.

It shifts the spotlight away from Kratos while staying inside the mythological structure that made the modern God of War games work. A shorter wait would also help Sony keep its first-party momentum alive after a quieter stretch. The real question now is where Sony places it. If Laufey lands in 2027, PlayStation suddenly has another major pillar between Wolverine, Ghost-style action and whatever comes next.
