Santa Monica says God of War is not finished with Kratos

God of War Laufey may put Faye in the lead, but Santa Monica is making one thing clear: Kratos is not being retired into the mythological attic. After some fans worried that the franchise was moving away from its most famous angry dad, Cory Barlog and the studio indicated that Kratos still has more stories ahead.

That matters because Laufey is a bold spin-off, but Kratos remains the franchise’s emotional and commercial anchor. The best outcome is not choosing one or the other.

It is widening the tapestry so Faye, Atreus and Kratos can all carry different parts of the larger mythology. That gives Santa Monica more room to explore new pantheons, afterlife spaces and character histories without forcing every story to revolve around Kratos punching a god into regret. The message to fans is simple: Faye gets her moment, but the Ghost of Sparta is not done.
