GTA 5 RageMP mod ordered to shut down by Take-Two

GTA 5’s unofficial RageMP multiplayer platform is shutting down after a cease-and-desist from Take-Two. According to the announcement, RageMP will cease operations on August 31, 2026, with the shutdown tied to Take-Two’s position around authorized GTA 5 multiplayer modding.

That matters because GTA roleplay and modded multiplayer have become a huge part of the game’s long life. re brought FiveM and RedM into the official ecosystem, which left rival platforms in a much more awkward position.

For players, this is another reminder that modding scenes can be enormous and fragile at the same time. A community can spend years building servers, tools, stories and social spaces, only for legal gravity to arrive wearing polished shoes. RageMP may be ending, but the broader GTA roleplay world is not going anywhere before GTA 6 arrives.
