Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes are reportedly already in early development

Halo may be moving toward a full original-trilogy remake strategy. Insider Gaming reports that Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes are in early development, citing claims from Rebs Gaming and additional discussion around Halo StudiosÔÇÖ plans. This remains unofficial, but the report says the remakes are moving ahead regardless of how Halo: Campaign Evolved performs. For Xbox fans, that would be a major strategic shift. Halo: Combat Evolved is already being remade as Halo: Campaign Evolved, but Halo 2 and Halo 3 are arguably even more sensitive because they are tied to the franchiseÔÇÖs Xbox Live explosion, legendary campaign moments and some of the most beloved multiplayer memories in console history. The big caveat is that these reports focus on campaign remakes, and Campaign Evolved itself reportedly lacks multiplayer. That may disappoint fans who associate Halo 2 and 3 with competitive and social online play. Still, if Microsoft can modernize the trilogy while respecting the tone, pacing and scale of the originals, Halo could get a powerful re-entry point for new players across Xbox, PC and potentially PlayStation.
