Kingdom Hearts IV is finally back in the spotlight, and Square Enix confirmed the game for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2 and PC. The Nintendo Direct trailer gave fans another look at Sora’s next chapter in Quadratum, the mysterious city that looks far too normal for a franchise that once made Donald Duck discuss cosmic darkness with a straight face.
The big news is the platform spread. Kingdom Hearts IV is no longer being framed as a narrow platform play.
It is coming broadly, including Switch 2, which suggests Square Enix wants this to be a major cross-platform event. The challenge remains the same as ever: make the story emotionally readable without needing a wall chart, while keeping the fast action, Disney worlds and Final Fantasy-adjacent weirdness that make Kingdom Hearts impossible to imitate.
