Minecraft looks set for a native Switch 2 version

Minecraft appears to be heading to Nintendo Switch 2 natively, which is not exactly surprising but still very important. A new ESRB rating has appeared for Minecraft on Switch 2 as a separate listing from the original Switch version. That suggests Mojang and Xbox Game Studios may be preparing a proper native release instead of relying only on backwards compatibility.
The original Switch version sold extremely well, but it also carried limitations around performance, image quality and stability. A Switch 2 version could clean up those pain points and give one of the world’s biggest games a more comfortable home on Nintendo’s newer hardware. Minecraft does not need hype cycles the way most games do.
It simply needs to be everywhere, work well and let players keep building ridiculous things. A stronger Switch 2 edition would fit that mission perfectly.
