Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 campaign is single-player only

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is taking the campaign back to basics: one player, one chair, one extremely expensive military disaster. Activision has confirmed that Infinity Ward’s campaign is single-player only, which should calm players still mentally scarred by Black Ops 7’s co-op campaign structure. The move makes sense.
Modern Warfare works best when it feels like a tightly directed action thriller, not a group project where one friend disconnects and the entire mission falls apart. Multiplayer, DMZ and live-service content will still carry the broader Call of Duty machine, but the campaign is being treated as a focused solo experience. For players who actually care about story missions, pacing, checkpoints and the ancient right to pause the game, this is good news.
Sometimes innovation is overrated. Sometimes you just need the campaign to behave.
