Modern Warfare 4 cosmetics and collabs will stay grounded

Infinity Ward is trying to reassure Call of Duty fans that Modern Warfare 4 will not immediately turn into a military cosplay circus. The studio says cosmetics and collaborations will stay grounded and authentic to the narrative, which is exactly the kind of message long-time Modern Warfare players wanted to hear after years of celebrity skins, brand crossovers and operators who looked like they had wandered in from a completely different game. Of course, Call of Duty’s live-service economy loves weird cosmetics the way a raccoon loves unattended trash, so the real proof will come after launch.

Still, the intention matters. Modern Warfare’s tone depends on tactical fantasy, not neon nonsense.

If Infinity Ward can keep cosmetic monetization from bulldozing the setting, MW4 may feel more coherent than recent entries. That would be a small miracle wearing night vision goggles.
