Momotaro Dentetsu series passes 20.1 million sales

1 million total sales, which is a massive milestone for a series that remains far more culturally powerful in Japan than many Western players realize. The long-running digital board game series has players travel across Japan as railway corporation presidents, buying properties and trying to build the highest total assets.

It sounds dry until you remember that board game chaos, local geography and family rivalry can be extremely sticky. The latest entry, Momotaro Dentetsu 2: Anata no Machi mo Kitto Aru, launched for Switch 2 and Switch in Japan in 2025, keeping the series relevant across Nintendo hardware.

This milestone is a useful reminder that not every huge franchise is globally loud. Some games dominate their home market so consistently that they become cultural furniture.
