Namco Legendary Mountains launches June 25 for Switch 2, Switch and PC, adding a strange little puzzle entry to the post-Direct Nintendo calendar. The title sounds like an artifact from an alternate arcade museum, and that may be part of the appeal. In a week where Nintendo and third parties are talking about massive RPGs, remakes, shooters and service updates, a compact 3D puzzle game has to win attention through clarity and personality.

Switch 2 is already getting a flood of ports and big names, but puzzle games are important library glue. They fill gaps between giant releases, travel well, and often live or die on one sharp mechanic. Namco Legendary Mountains now has a date.

The question is whether its puzzle hook is strong enough to climb out of the eShop avalanche.
