Nintendo Direct aftermath turns Switch 2 into June’s biggest platform story

Nintendo’s June 2026 Direct has done exactly what Nintendo needed it to do: turn the conversation back toward Switch 2’s own software identity after a week dominated by Sony, Summer Game Fest, Xbox and PC Gaming Show.

The presentation revealed The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time reborn for Switch 2, Kingdom Hearts IV, Xenoblade Genesis, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, a deep Splatoon Raiders push, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Pokémon Pokopia DLC, Star Fox, Dragon Quest Monsters, Rhythm Paradise Groove and a long list of third-party support.

That matters because Switch 2 already had strong third-party momentum, but Nintendo still needed to show its own rhythm for the second half of 2026. After this Direct, the platform no longer looks like it is waiting for its roadmap. It looks like it is trying to bury players under one.
