Nintendo and Pokémon narrow Palworld lawsuit to older versions

The Palworld lawsuit has taken an interesting turn. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have reportedly amended the scope of their claims, limiting the case to older versions of Palworld before Pocketpair made changes to reduce patent exposure. That is a big shift from the broader impression many players had when the lawsuit first appeared.

Nintendo Everything notes the dispute centers on gameplay mechanics rather than creature designs, including ball-like capture actions and riding creatures. The case now appears less likely to threaten current or future versions of Palworld in the same way. Presentation of evidence is expected in October, followed by a court opinion in November.

The monster-catching legal drama is far from over, but the target looks narrower now.
