Pokémon printed more than 10 percent of all TCG cards last year

The Pokémon Company has apparently been printing cards like someone put the factory under Tailwind. 7 percent of every Pokémon card ever printed.
That is an absurd statistic for a franchise celebrating its 30th anniversary and still dealing with demand spikes, scalper complaints and viral retail chaos. The practical takeaway is that The Pokémon Company knows supply has been a problem and is pushing hard to feed demand.
A major manufacturing expansion in North Carolina is also expected to grow capacity further later in the decade. This matters beyond cardboard collecting. Pokémon’s trading card business is not a side hobby anymore. It is one of the engines keeping the entire franchise culturally loud between video game launches.
