Pokémon Winds and Waves tops Famitsu most-wanted chart again

Pokémon Winds and Waves is still sitting comfortably at the top of Famitsu’s most-wanted chart, which is about as shocking as finding out Pikachu remains marketable. The latest reader-vote list puts the Switch 2 Pokémon title at number one with 784 votes, well ahead of Splatoon Raiders at 551 and Persona 4 Revival at 530.

The rest of the top ten includes Rhythm Heaven Groove, Ganbare Goemon Daishuugo, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for Switch 2, The Adventures of Elliot, Powerful Pro Baseball and Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

The useful part of this chart is not that Pokémon is popular. Everyone knows that. It is the shape of Japanese anticipation around Switch 2. Nintendo’s own franchises dominate, but RPGs and revivals are also clearly important. If Switch 2 keeps stacking Pokémon, Splatoon, Fire Emblem and strong third-party RPG support, Japan’s software momentum could stay very healthy.
