Report: Saudi PIF Considering Combination of EA and Savvy Games
A major gaming-industry consolidation story is circulating today, but it remains a report rather than a confirmed transaction. Reuters, citing reporting from Bloomberg, says Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund is considering a potential combination of Electronic Arts and Savvy Games Group. Such a structure could place franchises including EA Sports FC, Battlefield and The Sims alongside Savvy-controlled businesses under a more closely integrated organization. No final decision has been announced, and EA and Savvy have not confirmed that a merger will occur. The reported discussions therefore should be treated as exploratory corporate planning rather than a completed or agreed deal.
The possibility matters because PIF is associated with both Savvy’s gaming portfolio and the consortium involved with EA. A combined structure could change how those assets are managed, but speculation about strategic consolidation should not be read as confirmation that EA and Savvy have merged.
