Resident Evil Veronica is finally official, and Capcom clearly knows exactly which nerve it just touched. Fans have been asking for Veronica to return for years because it sits in a strange but important place in Resident Evil history: not numbered, not disposable, and very much tied to the franchise’s larger mythology. Announcing it for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2 and PC gives the project immediate weight, especially after Capcom’s recent run of strong Resident Evil remakes and new entries.
The big question is how far Capcom goes. Does Veronica get a full modern remake treatment, or something closer to a fresh reimagining with modernized structure? Either way, the reveal gives survival-horror fans another reason to keep watching Capcom.
The mansion may be gone, but the family trauma apparently still has excellent staying power.
