ROG XBOX Ally X20 adds OLED screen to the handheld race

ASUS has unveiled the ROG XBOX Ally X20, and the handheld PC arms race is clearly not calming down anytime soon. The new model finally adds an OLED screen to the lineup, which is exactly the kind of upgrade players now expect after Steam Deck OLED made handheld displays feel like a proper selling point rather than a spec-sheet footnote. The bundle also includes AR glasses pairing, which is either the future of portable gaming or a very expensive way to look like you are secretly browsing menus at the airport.

Either way, the announcement shows how crowded this category has become. Steam Deck built the modern handheld PC conversation, but ASUS, Lenovo, MSI and others are all fighting for attention now. The Ally X20 needs more than power.

It needs comfort, battery life, software polish and a price that does not require a financing plan.
