Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds gets Puyo Puyo content drop today

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is getting a Puyo Puyo content drop today, because apparently the fastest thing in the SEGA universe is now brand synergy. The update adds Arle from Puyo Puyo as a playable character and the Twinkle Bayoen vehicle, giving the racer a cheerful puzzle-game crossover that should make longtime SEGA fans grin.

An in-game Puyo Puyo Festival will then run from May 28 through May 31, turning the update into more than a character unlock. This is the kind of support Sonic Racing needs to keep its roster feeling like a broader SEGA celebration rather than just a hedgehog traffic jam.

CrossWorlds already has the advantage of colorful arcade racing energy. Pulling in Puyo Puyo gives it a lighter, weirder flavor and reminds players that SEGA’s back catalog still has plenty of characters worth putting behind a wheel.
