Sony’s latest State of Play becomes its most-watched ever

Sony’s latest State of Play did not just deliver trailers. It delivered numbers.

The June showcase reportedly hit more than 3 million live viewers, making it the highest-viewed State of Play yet. That matters because Sony needed a win.

Before the show, the conversation around PlayStation was full of concern about first-party sales, higher hardware pricing and whether the PS5 pipeline still had the same old power. Then the showcase opened with Marvel’s Wolverine, closed with God of War Laufey and filled the middle with Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall, Rayman Legends Retold, Until Dawn 2 and more. Big viewership does not guarantee every game will be good, but it does prove the audience still shows up when Sony has something substantial to say. In showcase season, attention is half the battle.
