Spyro: A Realm Beyond brings the purple dragon back in spring 2027

Spyro is finally getting a new original adventure. Spyro: A Realm Beyond was announced for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2 and PC, with a spring 2027 launch window.

That is a much bigger deal than it may sound to anyone who only knows Spyro as a nostalgic mascot. The last truly original Spyro game was many years ago, and Toys for Bob already proved with the Reignited Trilogy that it understands why the little purple dragon still matters. A Realm Beyond now has to do something harder: move Spyro forward without sanding away the color, charm and breezy platforming identity that made the original games beloved.

The reveal positions Spyro as bright, accessible and joyful in a showcase full of grim shooters and apocalyptic worlds. Honestly, that contrast may help. Sometimes gaming needs fewer broken worlds and more dragons causing cheerful trouble.
