Star Fox Switch 2 will receive day-one update with Battle Mode support

Star Fox on Nintendo Switch 2 will receive a day-one update, and this is one patch players should actually care about. Nintendo has confirmed that the update properly supports Battle Mode, GameChat character avatars and AR filters.

Battle Mode features 4-vs-4 dogfights, with up to eight players split between Team Star Fox and Team Star Wolf across objective-based stages. That already sounds like the kind of multiplayer chaos Star Fox has flirted with for decades but rarely fully owned.

The GameChat avatar feature is also very Nintendo in the best and weirdest way, letting players appear as Star Fox characters with expression-tracking, while AR filters can add ears or Falco-style features during chat. Star Fox launches for Switch 2 on June 25, and the day-one patch suggests Nintendo wants the social and multiplayer hooks ready immediately.
