State of Decay 3 arrives in 2027 with fresh gameplay

State of Decay 3 finally looks like a real game again. Xbox showed a lengthy new trailer with gameplay and cinematics, confirming the survival sequel is coming in 2027 to Xbox, PC, Game Pass and PS5.

That multiplatform detail is interesting, but the main story is that Undead Labs appears to have scaled up the concept. State of Decay has always had one brilliant idea: zombies are not just enemies; they are pressure on a community.

The player is not only surviving for themselves, but managing people, resources, fear, infection and long-term consequences. The third game needs to make that fantasy feel more AAA without losing the messy, systemic humanity that made the series different. If the trailer’s promise holds, State of Decay 3 could finally become the survival community sim fans always believed it could be.
