Super Yooka-Laylee Kart has appeared through a SteamDB page, which is exactly the kind of tiny database tremor that makes platformer fans start drawing connection boards. Nothing has been formally announced yet, but the name suggests Playtonic may be preparing a kart-racing spin-off for the Yooka-Laylee universe.

That is not as random as it sounds. Mascot platformers and kart racers have been close cousins since the 90s, and Yooka-Laylee already has the colorful character energy needed for a silly racing game.

The risk is obvious: kart racers are easy to announce and hard to make feel good. Handling, track identity, items and multiplayer balance matter more than nostalgia. ”, Super Yooka-Laylee Kart could become a fun surprise.
