Valheim locks in September 9 Switch 2 launch

Valheim now has a Nintendo Switch 2 release date: September 9, 2026. That is a strong get for Nintendo’s new hardware because Valheim is one of the defining survival-crafting success stories of the last several years.

0 launch, which makes it feel less like a late port and more like a platform relaunch moment. Valheim’s mix of Viking fantasy, exploration, building, boss progression and co-op chaos should translate well to a portable system if performance holds up.

The big question is how well the interface and building systems behave on controller and handheld play. If Iron Gate and the porting team nail that, Switch 2 players may lose entire evenings to suspiciously ambitious longhouse projects.
