Virtua Fighter Crossroads finally makes SEGA’s fighting comeback official

By GFA Staff · June 6, 2026

Virtua Fighter Crossroads is official, and SEGA’s legendary fighting series is finally stepping back into the ring with a proper new entry. RGG Studio is developing the 2027 release, which already makes the project interesting because Virtua Fighter has always lived on precision while RGG is known for cinematic flair, urban drama and people punching each other through emotional subtext.

The reveal trailer points toward slick visuals and a stronger story wrapper than the series has traditionally emphasized. That could be risky, but it may also be exactly what Virtua Fighter needs to re-enter a crowded modern fighting scene.

Tekken, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat all have massive personalities now. Virtua Fighter’s challenge is to keep its clean martial-arts identity while adding enough presentation and accessibility to bring new players in.
