Wizardry celebrates 45 years with new anniversary artwork

Wizardry is celebrating its 45th anniversary with new main visual artwork, and that is a neat reminder that RPG history did not start with whichever game first ate your childhood. Drecom unveiled anniversary art created by illustrator Jun Suemi, tying the modern Wizardry revival back to one of the oldest pillars of dungeon crawling.

Wizardry’s legacy is enormous: parties, classes, first-person dungeons, traps, brutal difficulty and a design language that shaped both western CRPGs and Japanese RPG development. Anniversary visuals are not gameplay news, but they matter for a series with this much history.

They keep the brand visible, respect the legacy and signal that Wizardry still has cultural weight in 2026. For newer players, it is also a small invitation to look backward and realize how deep the dungeon really goes.
