World of Tanks: HEAT launches today on PS5, Xbox Series and PC

By GFA Staff · May 26, 2026

World of Tanks: HEAT launches today for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC, bringing Wargaming’s free-to-play vehicle combat into an alternate post-World War II setup. The hook here is not simply more tanks, because Wargaming already has plenty of those parked in the garage.

HEAT is pitched as a tactical vehicle shooter with modernized cross-platform support, progression and a different tone from the long-running World of Tanks core experience. The interesting part is whether it can attract both existing tank-combat veterans and new players who want heavier vehicle action without inheriting years of legacy systems.

Free-to-play launches live or die on onboarding, matchmaking and whether the early grind feels fair or immediately starts sharpening its wallet teeth. If HEAT gets the first-week experience right, it could become a useful second lane for Wargaming rather than just another armored cousin at the family reunion.
